About Us

Gumbo Gallery was opened in June 2009 by gullah artist Sonja Griffin Evans to support  her efforts to provide an incubator for artists as well as her working studio.

Located in historic Belmont and Devilliers Pensacola, Florida, once known as Harlem of the South, Gumbo Gallery is the primary source of representation and support for local and regional multicultural artists.

Gumbo Gallery is also a resource center to learn more about the Forgotten Communities of Pensacola through its art, crafts, books and storytelling. It is the desire of the artists of the gallery to preserve their culture and lifestyle.
